What Should I Know About Elevator Pitches?
One important part of writing an elevator pitch is identifying three key elements that will help you shape your pitch. Your pitch will change depending on these elements, but the structure should remain consistent. These three elements are:
1. Who are you speaking with (audience)?
2. Where are you giving your pitch (situation)?
3. What is your intended goal (outcome)?
Typically, 2-3 different elevator pitches are needed depending on these elements. For instance, your elevator pitch may differ depending on your motivations, settings, audience, and overall goal. Lastly, an elevator pitch should be in paragraph form, instead of being numbered or put into bullet points.
